Vauxhall built its first car in 1903 as an independent company, but by 1925 it had been absorbed into the General Motors empire. The company focuses on affordable family cars such as the Vauxhall Astra and Zafira. After many years of producing cars that have received a lukewarm reception, Vauxhall is enjoying a renaissance thanks to models such as the Insignia along with the very neat second-generation Meriva.
Vauxhall has also taken part in a lot of motorsport ventures in a bid to build its sporty VXR brand, with VXR versions of many of its models offered, including the very popular Vauxhall Corsa.
