Formed in 1993, Malaysian car outfit Perodua sells a tiny number of cars in the UK, but in its home market models such as the Myvi are among the country's most popular cars. When the company launched in the UK it did so with the Perodua Kelisa, which was never going to prove competitive against some very talented supermini rivals.

That model died in 2009 and was outlived by the Kenari as well as the Myvi. Both of these are city cars - ever since it arrived, Perodua has focused on building very small vehicles, so that cash-strapped Malaysians can buy them.
