Set up by Lee Noble in 1999, Noble Automotive's mission was to create brilliant but affordable driver's cars. Providing an alternative to Lotus was a ploy that worked, with the Noble M12 and M400 proving very popular. Offering up to 425bhp from its mid-mounted turbocharged Ford Duratec V6, the M400 offered serious thrills with decent reliability at a relatively affordable price.

By 2006 Noble had sold his company, which was relaunched in 2009 to build the incredibly rapid M600. With a 650bhp twin-turbo V8 and a £200,000 price tag, the car is never going to be a big seller.
