Originally called Datsun when it launched in 1914, the Nissan name was first used in the 1930s - the Datsun brand was ditched altogether later on. Renowned for sportscars such as the Nissan GT-R and 370Z, SUVs account for the majority of the company's sales, largely because there are so many on offer.
From the Patrol, Murano and Pathfinder to smaller, more affordable models such as the Nissan Qashqai and X-Trail, there's a 4x4 for everybody. Another long-lived brand is the Nissan Micra, a favourite with driving schools thanks to its low running costs and reliability.
