Ferruccio Lamborghini made his fortune making tractors and air conditioning systems, but in 1963 he unveiled his first supercar - a model that was a very different beast from the Lamborghini Murcielago which now tops the company's price lists. Back then Lamborghini was very much a cottage industry, but since Audi bought the company in 1998, models such as the Gallardo are far better developed than ever before.
They also have to be commercially viable too, which is why the amazing Estoque might never be built, but thankfully the Lamborghini Reventon did make limited production - at around £1 million a time.
