Originally developed in the 1980s as a military vehicle, Hummers were built by AM General, although the brand became part of General Motors in 1998. The most recent model to come from the company was the Hummer H3, launched in 2005, although the first civilian model was launched as far back as 1992.
This first car, which was ridiculously oversized, was known as the Hummer H1; even for the US market it was too big, which is why GM launched the slightly smaller H2 in 2002. However, despite downsizing its vehicles, Hummer ended up being closed down by GM in 2010.
