One of the few supercar makers to have arrived in the past decade and survived, Gumpert built its first production car in 2005. Called the Gumpert Apollo, power is provided by a mid-mounted Audi-sourced twin-turbo V8, capable of producing 650bhp. In such a light car this guarantees sensational performance, with a top speed of 224mph and 0-62mph in just three seconds.
Despite such figures, a more hard-core version was released in 2009, called the Gumpert Apollo Sport, with more power (now 700bhp) and a lower kerb weight (just 1250kg), to provide even more thrills.
