There was a time when Citroën could claim to be the world's most innovative car maker in terms of design and engineering, but after two major bankruptcies the company realised that conservatism offers greater financial stability. So while cars such as the Citroën C5 and C3 aren't bad cars at all, they don't offer the excitement of earlier products from this French company.

It's a similar story where the Citroën C4 Picasso is concerned, although at least the C1 and C3 Picasso are quite funky. There is a sign that the company is back on track though; the brilliant Citroën DS3.
