Women “better at parking than men”

Women are better at parking than men according to new research by NCP, Britain’s biggest car park operator.
The study surveyed 2,500 men and women drivers in the UK, rating them on different aspects of manoeuvring their vehicle. Out of a possible 20 points, women motorists scored an average of 13.4 while men lagged behind with 12.3.

The world’s strangest car parks
The ‘parking debate’ has been an age-old cause of arguments between men and women, but this research could well be the final arbiter. The study tested three areas of the parking process: spotting a place, positioning the car and time taken to park.
The research found that men are more impatient than women when looking for a space and, compared to less anxious female motorists, are more likely to miss an available place as a result.
Women drivers were also found to position their cars better before initiating a manoeuvre, as well as taking more care to ensure the vehicle was central in the bay.
39% of women opted to reverse in to a space – the preferred method of British driving instructors – compared to just 28% of men.
It was also noted that 53% of female drivers parked centrally in a space as opposed to just 25% of male drivers, who were more likely to just abandon their vehicles.
It was found that men completed the reverse park in an average time of 16 seconds – five seconds quicker than the average time for female motorists at 21 seconds – possibly due to the aforementioned reduced regard for the final position of the car.
Just to reinforce the stereotype of male bravado surrounding parking, the study also found guys like to “pose-park.” Basically, attempting to squeeze their car into the tightest available space when accompanied by a female passenger.

What this survey shows is that THOSE women were better at parking than THOSE men, it does not mean that women are overall better at parking than men. The country has millions of drivers and youve surveyed 2500 of them and came to the conclusion that women are better at parking than men, its just nonsense.
You should sit in the car park at tescos and see how good some women really are at parking then make another survey.
I dont think they should compare women and men drivers as everyone has a different driving and parking abilities.
As a driving instructor this is my opinion ,
women take about 20 attempts at reversing to finally get a grasp of it
men normally about 5 will do it
this is not always the case though as some women have a male brain and others a female brain
yes its complicated
the female has very weak awareness of where car is heading when in reverse gear so after
they pass there test reversing will be avoided for many years in some cases, so when needed there not very good at it .
but must stress I've had one or two over the years could teach me a thing or two about reversing

Was this survey actually done by a politician? Civil Servant? Banker? Man with his wife sitting next to him? Or maybe a blind man!
This was the funniest thing I've read all day. Even funnier than the cricket umpire who cracked the protestor over the head with a cricket bat.
I wonder how they fudged these stats. Some of the men must of been over 70 and blind and the women were obviously the girl next door types, who they happened to find amongst a register for an advanced driving course.
It's a simple fact of science men are generally inferior at controlling feelings, emotions, behaving illogically, talking about problems, asking for help, and having emphathy with others. Our physical disadvantages include periphial vision, the ability to balance a child on our hips and the ability to lower oneself into a bath hotter than the surface of the sun.
Women however generally have these abilities but are weaker, less atheletic, illogical and generally poorer at mechanical tasks and problem solving, they also find directions more difficult and importantly have poor judgment of distance and are less spacially aware.
This isn't sexisim but science. Men are intended to be hunters and therfore their eyesight develops to be far better at judging distance (hence most men can catch and know how large their car is)
Women need to have eyes in the back of their heads to guard against danger and see where the kids are at all times.
So I doubt very much from the basics of human science and from what I have seen that these stats are at all a true reflection on society.
I feel the true questions lie in the reasons behind all of MSN's nonsensical and sexist articles. MSN must be full of sexist editors trawling through the papers for anything controversial and sexist.
I believe this research was carried out by an NCP parking attendant and we all know you don't need any qualifications to secure that job LOL - So I suggest we all give this fantastic piece of research the compliments it deserves and fire it into the waste paper basket along with the rest of the rubbish.
How scientific is that?
Well all the female drivers i know would be happy to admit they hate reversing and parking in general!
In my years of driving i have even parked a car for a female as they just had no idea and to save the queues in the car park building up while they tried and failed!!!
When she saw this story she said that it,s true that women can see spaces quicker than men but it is total crap that women are better at parking. Her words, not mine but i totally agree.
The only reason women's insurance is cheaper than men's is because when they cause an accident it's usually when talking to friends or their kids when they pull out in front of a man and just drive off totally oblivious to their surroundings. While the man ends up in the accident because he is taken totally by surprise when an idiotic women pulls out without looking as per usual.
To be honest I think we are both as bad as one another when it comes down to it, sex doesn't govern superiority on the road, but experience and courtesy does.
Ive lost count at the amount of women i see driving along quite happily, clearly playing with their hair, adjusting the cd player, applying lipstick, nattering on their mobiles etc. I cant prove this claim, but I will let the reader look on youtube to find out more.
I believe that what is displayed above is not very true, and i will continue to clench my bowels whenever I see a women driver piloting a horsebox, or a HGV, that's the stuff of nightmares.
