VW extends Bluemotion range to include vans

VW has expanded its Bluemotion eco sub-brand into its Transporter range of vans and people carriers.
It means white van man can now do his bit for the environment – with a faintly astonishing 44.8mpg achievable in the 114hp 2.0-litre TDI version of VW’s Bluemotion-enhanced Transit rival. That’s impressive stuff for a van.

Amongst the Transporter Bluemotion’s fuel saving measures are low rolling resistance tyres, stop-start and battery regeneration systems.
Together they mean the Transporter can travel up to 780 miles on a single tank of fuel and achieve a 7.1mpg improvement over the standard 84hp and 102hp TDI models.
The 84hp version manages a combined 40.4mpg – a 2.7mpg improvement over its non-Bluemotion equivalent – and can manage 710 miles on one tank of the black stuff.
There’s also a standard tyre pressure warning system to alert drivers to under-inflated tyres, one of the main culprits when it comes to increasing fuel consumption.
The Bluemotion and Bluemotion Technology models are available now, starting from £17,290 (plus VAT).
