Up to 50p a litre off fuel at Tesco

Supermarket giant Tesco has announced an incredible fuel saving offer of up to 50p off a litre of fuel.
The deal works on a series of vouchers giving customers who buy their groceries at the store a 10p reduction on the price of a litre of fuel – both petrol and diesel are included.

The offer applies to customers buying:
- Two selected Andrex toilet rolls
- Two selected Robinsons juice concentrate drinks
- Four selected Heinz products
- Nescafe Original or Gold Blend coffee
- Fairy Non-Bio washing powder
Up to five vouchers can be used for any one transaction, taking the total discount to 50p per litre.
Using a maximum of five vouchers will see forecourt prices effectively rolled back to 2008 levels – meaning you could pay as little as 80p for a litre of fuel.
Tesco’s UK marketing director, David Wood, said: “Most significantly, up to five 10p per litre vouchers can be used at the same time at our petrol filling stations.
“This means Tesco customers who take full advantage of this promotion will save 50p on every litre of fuel they buy on our forecourts and they will enjoy the lowest fuel prices by far anywhere in the UK.
“I am delighted that we can offer unbeatable value so that customers are making savings when they fill up their trolley and when they fill up their tank.”
The move from Tesco in cutting such a substantial amount from a litre of fuel significantly undercuts savings offered by other supermarkets, such as Morrisons’ Fuel Britania scheme that offers a 6p per litre saving when customers spend £40 or more in store.
The offer from Tesco – as well as discounts on liquid hydrocarbons from other supermarkets – goes some way to offset the staggering rise in fuel prices observed at the start of 2012, whereby a litre of super unleaded rose to an astonishing 185p per litre.
