2013 top 10 most and least reliable used car brands
It’s that time of year again – Warranty Direct and What Car? have released their latest used car reliability data. 38 brands are covered by the survey, which includes data from 50,000 live Warranty Direct aftermarket warranty policies covering used cars between three and eight years’ old.
For the most part it’s business as usual – the UK’s most reliable brand has now been the same for a remarkable eight years running; click through the gallery to find out who it is. It’s also no surprise to find Far Eastern marques dominate the positive end of the survey.
Looking beyond the top and bottom tens, however, there are some interesting observations.
For example, who would have credited Fiat as the 12th most reliable used car brand in the UK, or that Citroen in joint 13th would match Kia and Skoda, and far outstrip Volkswagen, which is languishing down in 21st – below SEAT (19th) but well ahead of Audi (31st).
However, the results are based not only on reliability, but the cost of repair – which puts some premium manufacturers at an immediate disadvantage. As we’ll see.
