Free spirits, nomadic types, hippies, surfers, design and technology teachers. Whichever stereotype you care to choose - they'll all be shedding a tear following that the last original VW Camper van, aka the VW Kombi, aka the VW T2, is to be roll out of the factory gates on December 31 this year.

Production of the classic Camper is ending in Brazil because the old-timer doesn't meet the latest safety rules - which state that every new car must have anti-lock brakes and airbags. To mark the news, VW will build a 600-run special edition Camper, before shutting the line down at the end of the year.
