The firm has a long history of providing souped-up motors for the police to bang up the bad guys with, and alongside the latest addition to the list, we’ve got some of the coolest Ford cop cars ever to grace Her Majesty’s force.

Police call-boxes may have been a familiar site in some locations but one has never sited a police whistle or truncheon, they were always transportable with the bobby that possessed them. One has, however, sighted many a bobby who may have been very pleased to see one as he whistled his appreciation of this poor soul

Cute little toys, Ford is an international manufacturer, your obviously not considering the Australian or American Ford models, if you did you would not consider any of these "cool", more like grandads shopping cars.

They supplied a whole bunch of 2.8 Capri police cars , mainly to the met. but every one was written -off due to heavy footed police drivers - bar one ,this I believe is in a museum . They handled very badly on sharp bends ,being very "tail happy " especially in the wet . The Lotus Mk.11 version suffered from a "brittle" engine , very fast but expensive to repair , and the head gaskets tended to blow , they were a pig to keep in tune too with the twin 40s carbs . Less said about the "fast" Focus the better ,who wants to drive around in something that looks like your mum"s runaround , most of them look similar ,only petrol heads know the difference . Bring back the Ford Anglia ! our 650 Triumph motorbikes made mincemeat out of them in the 60s ,you only needed a girlfriend to cover the rear no. plate with her big coat .

The Car in the new Sweeney isn't a Focus ST, if you watch the Top Gear episode where they feature the movie they show its not an ST.

Many of these shots were publicity pictures for Ford, especially shots 9 and 10 as the police never actually took delivery of either the Cosworth Escort or the RS200!
The Lotus Cortina, as already noted, was very fragile and I believe yet again more publicity shots.
The Ford Granadas were used regularly by the police as they could carry all the kit and like many of the Vauxhalls were specially tuned for the force. The Ford Crapis were mostly seen disappearing backwards off the road on wet bends!

hi, rs200 a disater it was for british group b rally, it was a crazy hype back in 1985, we were so eagar
to see this car race, first 5 minutes in the rally and it turned over, what a shamefull moment and it was
taken out of rally and all the rs200 were given to the police to patrol the moterways, Its nice when you have lived the history! ! !...........! shane
