Subaru takes aftercare to another level

Subaru takes aftercare to another level

Subaru has just announced a new three-year aftercare package called Everything Taken Care of (ETCo). And when it says everything, it isn’t joking – this is another level of post-purchase customer service.

There are no less than 11 elements to ETCo, which is applied in addition to the existing three-year / 60,000 mile manufacturer’s warranty, 12-year anti-corrosion bodyshell cover and three-year paintwork warranty on all new Subarus.

Taken as a whole, Subaru reckons ETCo adds up to over £7,000 in extra value when you the purchase the car. So what exactly are you getting? Here’s the full list:

–> Minor dent and scratch repair; up to £1,000 a year over three years

–> Alloy wheel repairs; up to £1,000 over three years

–> Monthly wash ‘n’ vac; no kidding, Subaru is going to clean your car for you

–> Annual makeover; full valet every year for three years

–> Lost key replacement; one per year, up to £350 in value over three years

–> Service collection and delivery; within 25-miles of dealership

–> Annual wheel alignment check; repairs may be chargeable, though

–> First MOT cover; free MOT plus a contribution to any repair costs

–> Accident management service; ensures repairs by Subaru-trained technicians

–> Insurance excess cover; part of the Accident Management

–> Winter wheel and tyre storage; requires additional purchase of same but storage is free

This is very clever. For not only will much of it save you money, quite a bit of it is dedicated to keeping your Subaru looking fresh – which can only be a good thing for residual values.

It’s also an aftercare package you can actually see the results of – whenever the car is cleaned or a minor dent is removed, for example – which means it will feel like you are getting value for money, on something that was free in the first place.

ETCo is transferable between owners, too. So while Subaru can’t match the standard five- or seven-year warranties of some rivals, it’s certainly brought something fresh to the market. Would it make you consider a Subaru?
