The bold new four-door coupe-estate will start at £49,360 for the CLS 250 BlueEfficiency model; for £1,100 more, a stylish AMG Sport pack will be offered.
The CLS 350 BlueEfficiency will cost from £53,000 and the range-topping CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake performance coupe-estate will cost £83,030.
The Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake will thus cost less than £1,800 more than the CLS coupe – not bad for a model that’s both more head-turning and a lot more practical: the load bay stretches from 590 litres to 1,550 litres.
Even seats up, the boot is bigger than a Ford Mondeo estate.
Standard on all CLS Shooting Brake will be an electric tailgate and self-leveling rear air suspension. All will also feature sat nav, DAB, leather seats, all-round parking sensors, metallic paint, Xenon headlights and 18-inch alloys.
There’s the usual brace of Mercedes options too – including the unique designo American Cherry Wood load compartment bay. For £4,030, this turns the boot into something resembling a Riva yacht: MSN saw it when the car was revealed at Brooklands in July, and can confirm it’s a striking feature.
Deliveries of the CLS Shooting Brake will begin in November. From then, the CLS coupe range will also be realigned, with the current Sport line being replaced by the AMG Sport trim that debuts on the CLS Shooting Brake.
