This is the oldest unrestored Mini in existence, and the 1959 Austin Mini Se7en is being auctioned by Bonhams next week. Despite its rather dilapidated condition, it's expected to fetch around £15,000.

In 1962 I used to drive an old Ford Anglia in the North of Scotland. The old type with the inward sloping rear window. It broke down regularly three time a week but it could always be fixed and got running again. I carried a hammer in the boot for when the started motor jammed, which it did regularly. I even drove it clutchless for a week. Almost anything could be fixed at the side of the road and the narrow cross-ply tires were fantastic in snow. No heater, no radio, no ABS, power steeringbut it drifted amazingingly around corners on full oppisite.
Dont tell me old cars are rubbish. Break down in one today and you are basically stuffed unless you have a computer programme and a laptop with you.

It`s not a car - its living history. This car completely changed how mass market cars were made and they are still great to drive.

Only wish i had 15k. Everything on that car can be either rebuilt or Replaced, and any clown who says its a pile of tatt, Has no soul, and simply shouldnt be aloud on a british road. True British icon of a bygone year, when we "THE BRITISH" actually made things, and felt proud of what we made!.
Just hope it stays in the uk, and doesnt end up in **** land

that number plate must be worth a good bit,and i agree that the old cars maybe back in the sixties and seventies were far better and much more interesting,you could always recognise the cars back then but not so much now as they all look the same.

this brings back memories of my pea green mini that i bought for £50 many years ago . that also had an 850cc engine , now i wish i kept it

buy it, restore the engine but keep all the grime, have it running at least, sort out the flat tyre and you basically have what people in the car rat scene would die for. so yeah, considering the price theses still can go for in mint condition, id say its worth it for a piece of automotive history.
Getting it running with out sorting out the rust or body work issues would be the way to go, then just display it as a working but unrestored vehicle

Britain still ruled (metaphorically) the world when this car was built. I'd want to restore it but recondition all the parts wherever possible.

minis are one of the best classics to invest in as you can get all the parts sill plus there is alot that you can do with a mini aswell as being gud fun to drive as a mini owner myself i would recomend one any day lots of top celebs have owned them aswell
