New McLaren supercar set for Paris 2012 reveal?

McLaren Automotive will reveal its future road car plans at the 2012 Paris Motor Show later this September.

Following the MP4-12C and recently released MP4-12C Spider convertible, the road-going arm of the British Formula 1 business will highlight “the next exciting chapter for McLaren Automotive” at the French show.

Given the firm’s premier and most famous road car, the McLaren F1, turns 20 this year, the stage is certainly set for the company to unveil a master plan to rock the supercar establishment and send rivals Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini running for cover.

To this end, it’s mooted McLaren is planning a successor to the F1 – a car that dominated and defined the rarefied upper echelons of automotive finesse from the moment it emerged, right up until the Bugatti Veyron finally broke its top speed record.

In fact, it’s been suggested that an early preview of just such a vehicle was given to important customers and friends of the company at last month’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

At the same time, McLaren is also expected to reveal plans for a new baby sports car to rival the Aston Martin V8 Vantage and Porsche 911, both in terms of price and performance.

MSN Cars will be at Paris later in the month and will bring you all the news of McLaren’s grand plans as and when they’re unveiled. Stay tuned.
