New Lebanese supercar announced

W Motors, a newly formed Lebanese supercar constructor, has unveiled plans for an all-new high-performance vehicle.

The Beirut-based start-up company plans to begin production of two hand-made models. Dubbed the “Hyper-Sport”, the first model will make its public debut at the 2013 Qatar Motor Show, with a “Super-Sport” version expected to follow a year later.

The full specification of the new car (both models share the same platform) is as yet unconfirmed, but it is thought W Motors’ first product will feature a carbonfibre monocoque chassis, similar to McLaren’s MP4-12C in construction.

Power is rumoured to come from a 740hp twin-turbo six-cylinder engine mounted amidships, giving a 0-62mph time in the region of 2.8 seconds – fast enough to rival the Nissan GT-R and even the Bugatti Veyron for accelerative pace.

The company has confirmed it will build just five examples of the Hyper-Sport before the Super-Sport variant of the car is launched 12 months after production at the factory begins.

To mark the Hyper-Sport’s limited edition status, the car will come complete with “diamond-encrusted” LED headlights and a gold-plated bonnet. W Motors is said to be targeting the new car at the Middle and Far Eastern markets, as well as Eastern Europe.

According to W Motors’ founder, Ralph Debbas, “the Hyper-Sport will also feature a fully functional holographic display with interactive motion,” although the company is yet to confirm entirely what the system will add to the car.

Debbas is calling the Hyper-Sport “the most luxurious sportscar in the world.” Expect full pricing and specification information closer to the car’s unveiling in Qatar next year.
