New four-wheel drive Porsche 911s
The latest 911 has a longer wheelbase and a wider front track - both an effort to make the rear-engined design less pendulously unpredictable. But if you're still having that recurring nightmare about exiting the road backwards, fret no more - the new four-wheel drive Carrera 4 models have arrived.

Let's be honest here, they have hardly changed the script since the first 911 was introduced, it's as if they had a hit with the 911 and forgot about everything else apart from a sad venture into the 4x4 market which they probably should never have done, one good model should have never defined an entire company like what's happened to Porsche, I think its most likely this reason more than anything else that has led to VW's successful takeover, they failed to diversify, and when they attempted, the supercar brand of Porsche chose to try out the 4x4 market? what's that all about? just a glorified VW Touareg to me and they broke down religiously. They built some cracking cars for racing back in the day but failed to translate these iconic shapes into road models i.e. 917.
While Ferrari and Lamborghini were pumping out true big road going supercars decades ago and making an absolute fortune Porsche decided to keep its pedigree monsters purely for the track. Porsche should be on a level with Ferrari, Lamborghini, and all the big boys, instead it's been took over by Volkswagen (the peoples car)
It's also ironic that the most successful model Porsche has ever had (the well flogged to death 911) owes its engine to the humble VW Beetle, and even today's 911 engine is still a close relative to the very same engine
If I were Ferdinand Porsche (founder of Porsche) I'd be turning in my grave with jealousy seeing where the competition is, and where Porsche is.
I love Porsche believe it or not, but my love is based on the classic cars of old, when Porsche were visionaries with cutting edge design, but not today's regurgitated same old same old, nothing new here designs!
