The new Range Rover is designed by Gerry McGovern, who also created the Evoque. "Designing the next generation Range Rover, following over forty years of success, came with a huge responsibility to protect the DNA of such an icon," he said. "Our design team worked incredibly hard to capture the elegant proportions and pure surfaces which have been a feature of the best Range Rover designs."

It is a shame that they keep adding bits in and making it bigger so that Yanks with their fat butts can get in and out, it would have been much better if they had made it more reliable, with less depreciation, these things have an appalling record, one reason why I've never bought one!

It will keep the boys in Solihul busy and hopefully will be one of our better exports which will help the economy! It amazes me that when you look to other countries I don't see such gloom when new products are announced. Is it just the Brits? Lets get behind this like it or not!

A lovely car designed for those of us that can afford one. Luxury travel for the wealthy. It will certainly enable us to carry on looking down at the working classes in their vauxhalls and so on. I for one feel that given my status I should be allowed to emit more C02 than the working classes. I think emission allowances should be based on wealth. Those people with tatoos and clothes from JD sports should be made to use buses by law. I am sure many will agree with these simple, but sensible ideas.

Yet again the newer cars are bigger than the predecessors, the discovery is the same size now as the original Range Rover and the latest Range is a bus! Why don't they realise that not everyone has a drive or garage the same size as Blenheim palace!

Most people can't afford them. Most people who drive them actually lease them. It makes me laugh when you see someone living in a semi but drive round in one of these.This is a give away! They must lease it. lol. Keeping up with the Joneses i think!

Everyone complains about land rover concepts/future designs.. for example-
When the original Freelander was released it received a slating from LR enthusiasts, it sold well and nearly doubled their sales in the first year
When the then 'new' shape L322 Range Rover was released in 2001 it had the same response as this one, look at it now.. its an icon
When the Discovery 3 was released people reckoned it would never be good off road because of its 'two chassis' construction and heavy weight, they were wrong
When the LRX pictures were released almost everyone thought it would never be a proper Range Rover.. a few years on and under the 'Evoque' name it has become the best selling new car with a year long waiting list!
People will complain with the change and evolution of a model and when it is released there will be a small group of 'haters' who will refuse to use the new model and then there will be everyone else who will embrace the new design and reap the benefits of the lighter car, more space and improved economy and safety.
And besides, anything that increases UK employment and exports can't be a bad thing can it?

Brian Lyttle - Are you actually aware of where the word 'jeep' comes from, or even that there is a company called 'Jeep'?
The original Willys jeep was a US icon, used in warfare the world over, much like the ubiquitous Soviet AK-47. Land Rover grew out of the competition to build a British rival.
The fact that the Range Rover now surpasses anything produced by Jeep means that to call it a jeep is equivalent to calling a Dyson a 'hoover'.
You can hardly display patriotism by redefining our top brands by the names of inferior products.
