Lotus boss suspended following complaint

Think this could be the beginning of the end for Lotus as we know it. Lotus didnt make a profit under Protons ownership and if you look, they have been pushing their prices up quite a bit just lately and this is making them uncompetitive now. The new Exige S is a prime example. It now costs just over £50k and in its new configuration, it is very clearly more orientated for the track than the road. All very well, however, at that price it needs to be a good drive on the road and whilst it is undoubtedly very fast, it is let down by a very basic interior. Now we know the Exige is very minimalist on the interior front, however, when you are competing in the £50K bracket, there is a certain expectation by purchasers and the Exige falls way short of the minimal levels. This is relevant because you cannot use this cars performance to the full on the road and will be spending a lot of time driving at normal speeds, therefore the interiors lack of basic items will come into play. Its the same to a degree with the Evora. Sure its fast, but style wise it just doesn't look good and again, when you look at what it competes against in its price range, only a pure enthusiast will  consider one. The original Exige and Elise were a revelation because they were very light, handled like nothing else in their day and were reasonable quick, some of them were very quick,  and because they were such good fun to drive, you quickly forgave their flaws, like entry and exit for example, however, the game has now moved on considerably and Lotus just haven't kept up and now their cars are even more niche than ever. That's okay when times are good but in the current economic situation, I think their lack of profit making potential has now caught up with them.
