George Clooney Tesla up for charity auction

A 2008 Tesla Roadster owned by George Clooney is to be auctioned later this month to raise money for the actor’s Sudanese charity.
First Drive: Tesla Roadster (2008 onwards)
The 2008 Tesla ‘Signature 100’ Roadster, which carries car number 0008, was purchased new by Clooney and has covered 1,700 miles.
It will now be auctioned at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Centre on Saturday 18 August.
Top Gear sued over electric car
The car is finished in Tesla’s ‘Obsidian Black Metallic’ and has a two-tone leather interior. The Signature 100 is the first batch off the line and, thus, legitimately, the world’s first electric sports cars…
Clooney has reportedly said the car is “thrilling to drive”.
Despite its famous heritage though, estimated selling prices are relatively attainable: $100,000-$125,000 (that’s from less than £80,000). Don’t be surprised if the George Clooney Tesla goes for a lot more…
Gooding and Company will auction the car. Company president and founder David Gooding said: “We are overjoyed to present George Clooney’s Signature 100 Tesla at Pebble Beach because this is an incredible opportunity to purchase a modern collector car with all the right elements: one-owner, celebrity provenance; historical significance; limited-edition rarity and philanthropic ties.”
The Satellite Sentinel Project will be the beneficiary of all funds raised. This charity was co-founded by Clooney and human rights activist John Prendergast. It monitors the borders of Sudan via satellite and tries to prevent the return of a full-scale war between Northern and Southern Sedan.
“We admire and respect Mr. Clooney’s talent and dedication to making a difference in our international community, and hope his fantastic car will attract great support for the Satellite Sentinel Project and recognition of the lives his work saves every day,” added Gooding.
