First McLaren MP4-12C up for auction

First McLaren MP4-12C up for auction

Silverstone Auctions is to set a world first next month when it auctions the first McLaren MP4-12C to go under the hammer.

The graphite grey supercar, one of 1,000 built in 2011, will hit the auction floor on 16 May – and is expected to make between £160,000-£180,000. That represents virtually zero depreciation from the car’s £169,505 list price… if the original owner had actually paid that.

This car, however, is actually fitted with a series of optional extras: Meridian surround sound stereo, front and rear parking sensors, red brake calipers, IRIS satnav upgrade and contrasting Harissa red stitching on the dashboard.

Sensibly, the owner fitted a Cobra tracking system and also added the Stealth Pack – that’s moody black tips for the exhausts and rear spoiler. Even the graphite grey colour  was a special order paint finish.

The car is a one-owner model and has covered 2,150 miles since being delivered: Silverstone Auctions MD Nick Whale said it is “simply stunning and in a league of its own.

“Its addition to our collection is quite a coup and we are really excited to be offering it for sale, especially as it is the first time a MP4-12C has been up for auction.”

Tempted? If you have the money, you should be, said Whale. “There is a six month waiting list for new examples today so this presents a great chance to immediately own one of the world’s most sought after cars. It really is an opportunity not to be missed.”

MSN Cars will be sure to update you of the final sale price when the auction closes next month…
