Fast and the Furious role for Subaru BRZ

Subaru's entertaining coupe is Hollywood-bound (via Britain!)

Fast and the Furious role for Subaru BRZ

The Subaru BRZ rear-drive coupe, so highly praised here at MSN Cars, will feature in the new ‘Fast and the Furious 6’ movie that’s due out in May 2013.

US magazine Motor Trend says insiders have revealed up to five BRZ have been delivered to the production company – and is expecting ‘at least one’ BRZ to be given the full Fast and the Furious bodykit makeover.

It also expects movie stars such as Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to appear alongside the critically acclaimed coupe, perhaps even behind the wheel. Jason Statham may also get a cameo role in the movie.

There’s added British interest in the film as well: some scenes – and perhaps the movie in its entirety – are set in the UK. Glasgow streets have already been closed for filming, and the movie crew have also been spotted filming scenes in London and Surrey.

What’s of most interest to enthusiasts is what the film company may do to the powerplant of the car, though. We love the BRZ but even we admit it could easily handle more power. Will the Fast and the Furious car deliver this?

If so, expect to see Subaru’s wonderful coupe put in a dramatic appearance on the big screen when the movie debuts next May. Thus providing the small and under-pressure Japanese firm with a welcome fillip of extra publicity.

And all for the price of five cars…
