F-Type matches Evoque for pre-sale interest

Jaguar has revealed that its new F-Type sports car is currently attracting as much pre-sale interest as the incredibly successful Range Rover Evoque.
Comparing the Evoque’s pre-sale period with current enquires about the new F-Type – which is yet to get an official release date – Jaguar says the new car is currently matching its sister company’s compact SUV “one-to-one”.

First Drive Review: Range Rover Evoque (2011 onwards)
This might not sound terribly exciting. But so far this year Land Rover has sold over 100,000 Evoques. If that pattern carries over to the F-Type, the Jaguar production line is going to be very busy indeed.
But before we all get too carried away with the idea of yet another British success story, it’s worth knowing the total global market for sports cars is only about 72,000 cars a year. And there’s no way the F-Type will actually eclipse that figure on its own.
Still, in terms of re-establishing Jaguar as a desirable brand in the eyes of 13 to 33 year olds (yes, even the bedroom wall demographic is important to the future of the marque), this pre-sale interest is extremely encouraging.
Here’s hoping the F-Type is as good to drive as it is to look at – it shouldn’t be long now until we finally get to find out.
