BMW teams up with Italian styling gurus at Pininfarina for slick new coupe
1. Volkswagen Golf
Once again the Golf is Europe's best selling car. Sales may be down 1.6%, but its margin of popularity is enormous - nearly half a million sold compared with around 350,000 for second and third place Polo and Fiesta. It's the car for everyone.

I purchased new golf MK5 TDI five years ago, its still like new, will keep it as long as I can, then buy small electric car. That will be the end of a very long and expensive love affair with automobiles. They are simply today, to expensive to purchase and run, for the majority of the public.
!!I might try a large engine scooter though for fun in the meantime.!!
The manufacturers are confusing us
Renault and nissan are now one company the new 3 cylinder micra is being marketed in other countries as the renault pulse. A lot of cars share the same bits or even the same manufacturer so its so hard to tell where a car is made these days as the suzuki alto and nissan pixo are one and the same and are made in india The suzuki splash and vauxhall agila are the same and also built in india (see also citroen C1 peugeot 107 and toyota aygo) all built in the same factory in Kolin in the Czek Republic.
all built to a price and all very frugal
the golf on the other hand is becoming a rich mans car ridiculously over priced the quality is not there any more and they are trading on past glories
THE VAUXHALL ASTRA IS A GREAT RANGE OF CARS WITH MORE TO COME. IT IS MADE IN THE UK BY BRITISH WORKERS PAYING UK TAXES. BUY BRITISH.
VW have some funny adverts...like the V dub adverts on youtube (German engineering in the house) and the older lady selling a Golf to a first time buyer and his dad!
GTI'S are a rip off, £18,000-20,000, for the GTI Polo, what do you get? more horse power and leather.. wow, you have more money then sense. I own a 2010 Polo like the one in the picture, its a great car!
Why is it that 9out of 10 BMW owners always assume their cars are best and drive with the same level of arrogance? The honest 1 in 10 will always tell you about the bone jarring overly firm ride and sparse equipment levels. None of these cars are pretty but they are all affordable and practical etc.
YOU FORGOT TO MENTION THAT YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE SITTING ON THE FLOOR WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING THEM AND INSURANCE COMPANIES KNOW THE TYPE OF PERSON THAT DRIVES A BMW AND CHARGES ACCORDINGLY
AND WHILE I AM AT IT WHY DO ALL AUDI OWNERS TAILGATE
(has any one else noticed this or is it just me? )

Not surprised that sales are down for Ford. I love the Ford Focus to drive, they are good value and I've had 2 to date but Ford Customer Services are useless and aren't interested in their customers once they've sold them a car. I would never buy another Ford, which is their loss because I'm currently looking to buy a new car!
I totally agree i am also looking for a new car and went in to a ford showroom and was surprised by their take it or leave it attitude my next port of call was a jag dealer who bent over backwards to help i have not yet finalised a deal but i think it will be a used jag rather than a brand new ford this time FORD TAKE NOTE YOUR SHOWROOMS ARE FULL OF PEOPLE WHO WOULD SOONER BE SOMEWHERE ELSE THAN SERVING CUSTOMERS
STONEACRE FIAT LIVERPOOL ARE JUST AS BAD MY WORKMATE TELLS ME
I have a 2011 Astra, and it is rubbish.
1. Visability out of the back is limited because of the rear quarter window bars and the small rear window. Large blind spots.
2. The front quarter windows are just as bad, the wing mirrors are fitted to the window bars. When turning right or going on roundabouts these are in your line of vision.
3. The electric hand break is dangerous. If you start the car (clutch down and in neutral as I was taught) and then let the clutch up as you are demisting the windows, the hand break can release and the car will roll.
4. The cruise control does not switch off when you dip the clutch. You can change gear and the cruise stays on.
Sorry my Golf has gone.
Oh yes i forgot about the safety issue...
in 2009 i had an accident, went under a gritter slidded on ice,,hmm funny to, slides on ice under a gritter.. I was in a 2009 polo match , i bounced of the gritter 2 times as the inpact spun me around 2 times and finaly landed side ways on the foot path. All damage i had was the front and i only knocked my head on drivers window....
Good job i was in that little polo, as i had before an astra , no way would a walked out of this accident the way i did when i would a set in an astra...
Lets face it V W are jus ttrying to catch up to toyota etc with the new "up" one of the best cars i owned was an 82 VWgti looked like a box then but a lovely car ahead of its time now vw are playing catch up shame
Just last year, V.W's looked really modern, all three featured here are old mans cars, while Renaults have always looked awkward, they are also hopeless mechanically. Just one mans opinion.......
In full agreement with previous comment regarding BMW,which should be right up there at the top,for looks and engineering, not these french pieces of S***
James Hume... you dont have a clue mate, living in the 90's
Renaults are no longer hopeless mechanically, id like to remind you what car SMASHED the F1 this year?? and what was that car powered by?? mechanically renaults are sound as you like, its the fixtures and fittings that let them down, cheap plastics etc
And as for VW being old mans cars, yea they are if you get the old man versions, get the GTI or R versions and i GARENTEE once you dive them you wont be saying theyre old mans cars!!
