Lead sponsor of the England football team, Vauxhall welcomed the full squad and manager Roy Hodgson so the Luton staff could meet the entire team and wish them good luck.
It was quite a day for the Vauxhall staff who gathered to see the team in the firm’s reception hall. Robert Parker, forecasting manager at Vauxhall Motors, said: “It was a privilege to meet the England squad before they travel out to represent us in Poland and the Ukraine.
“Football fever is definitely alive and kicking at Vauxhall Motors. We’ll be supporting the team through all their fixtures and we’re looking forward to their first game.”
The team, including captain Steven Gerrard and striker Wayne Rooney, checked out the reigning Car of the Year-winning Vauxhall Ampera while there, prior to signing a commemorative autograph board.
England FC flew out from Luton Airport following the visit to Vauxhall Motors, to begin preparing for the first match against France on Monday 11 June.
And Vauxhall? It’ll be keeping fans up to date with daily broadcasts from Poland and Ukraine, via a special Vauxhall Football channel.
The brand will also be showing a new ‘Supporting a Nation’ TV ad – featuring England FC players and staff from the Vauxhall Ellesmere Port plant whose future was recently secured following a big win by the British number 2 maker in securing the contract to build the next Astra.
