Emmerdale star talks cars

ITV’s Emmerdale soap opera celebrates its 40th anniversary this October, so MSN Cars caught up with self-confessed car fanatic, Jason Merrells – the man who plays Declan Macey in the long-running rural drama.

MSN Cars Q and A quiz with Jason Merrells

MSN: What was your first car?

JM: Lime green Mini.

MSN: How much did it cost?

JM: Probably a couple of hundred quid.

MSN: What’s the funniest thing you did with it?

JM: Wasn’t funny at the time, but the brakes went completely once and I had to drive onto the pavement around the car in front to avoid crashing. I was like Keanu [Reeves] in ‘Speed’, but in a Mini.

MSN: What do you drive now?

JM: Infiniti FX and Yamaha Fazer FZ1S

MSN: What does your character drive now?

JM: Been driving a Morgan roadster, but has now got a 6 Series BMW. Had a Lotus Evora last year, and a 911 before that.

MSN: Which car is better?

JM: 911.

MSN: What is your dream car?

JM: Aston Martin DB9.

MSN: What do you love most about motoring?

JM: Speed.

MSN: What do you hate most about motoring?

JM: Traffic.
