The Radio 2 breakfast show DJ announced the venue for the CarFest North event live on air yesterday (Monday 30 April), as an extra date for Evans’ Children In Need fundraiser.

CarFest North will be held on the weekend of 8-9 September and promises a large collection of both modern and classic supercars, plus a family-friendly festival offering something for all ages.

There’s even a concert on both nights: Texas headline on Saturday and Razorlight headline on Sunday.

In choosing Cholmondeley, Evans said: “We checked out a number of amazing venues in the north but feel that Cholmondeley ticks all the right boxes.

“Not only is it a well known venue for petrol heads but the setting is just beautiful and provides the ideal backdrop for the fantastic family focused weekend we are pulling together.”

CarFest will actually be the second big motoring extravaganza to be held at Cholmondeley, following the fast-growing Pageant of Power on 15-17 June. Director of the Pageant, Cholmondeley estate manager James hall, also revealed that hosting CarFest came about from him listening to Evans on the radio.

“When Chris mentioned plans for CarFest North on his Breakfast Show, I knew we had to show him what Cholmondeley had to offer.

“Being chosen to host CarFest North is just fantastic and cements our reputation as the home of high-octane action in the North of England“.
