BTCC star takes on eBay Motors Mechanics Challenge

eBay Motors has launched its Mechanics Challenge at the Snetterton race circuit, Norfolk. The engineering test will see British Touring Car Championship racer Tom Onslow-Cole and TV motoring expert Edd China team up to turn a milk float into a racing car.
The caveat is only parts and accessories bought from the eBay Motors website are eligible to be used. Making it even more difficult for the duo, BTCC fans and motoring enthusiasts get to vote on the parts selected for the final build, transforming the lacklustre milk float to (hopefully) a lap-record racer.

Onslow-Cole currently drives for the eBay Motors BMW squad in the BTCC – currently the leading independent team – and has secured two third- and two second-place finishes so far this season.
His team’s mechanics and engineers will muck in alongside China to get the milk float ready for its debut. Onslow-Cole will get behind the wheel for the culmination of the project in a full-on final test of the milk float scheduled for September.
The finished vehicle will be on display for fans to see at the penultimate round of the BTCC at Silverstone on the 7th October 2012.
eBay Motors BMW driver, Tom Onslow-Cole:
“I have never been involved in anything like this before and can’t wait to get started. Having driven the milk float around Snetterton it is clear that we have a massive amount of work on our hands. We have got some great engineers working on the car and I am eager to see what is in store for the final challenge.”
According to Edd China, “it’s a really tough test, but I am very excited to be working with Tom and the guys from the eBay Motors BTCC team to build this vehicle. The range of items available from eBay Motors will make our job a lot easier, and we look forward to getting started on the developments.”
The task has been designed to highlight the wealth and diversity of parts on the eBay Motors site, hopefully proving you can turn even the most inauspicious vehicle into a polished project.
