The M550d Touring and both X5 and X6 get self-levelling rear air-suspension, while the M550d Saloon makes do with steel springs all round. Dynamic Damper Control and Adaptive Drive, which includes anti-roll control, are optional on the cars.

I've got an idea, seeing as M6 Toll traffic has fallen by 10.7% in the last year. Why not make it an autobahn type thing and have no general speed limit on there?? Make some money out of that wont they!?! And we can finally use our cars to their potential with out losing our licenses.

Love the technology. Can't afford it. When will someone produce a sports/performance car for the masses? Drive an older Mercedes 500SEL but find German manufacturers now even more so live on another planet - planet Euro!

Very impressive technology, but why waste it in the X series? The M550d appears highly desirable, but will it ever be possible to legally, or prudently, use its ultimate performance?
Triple turbocharging for supreme torque yet high efficiency could be the next thing for 'ordinary' diesel cars. How about a 150 bhp one litre returning 60+ mpg? That could be used in the U.K.

Thought that BMW had denied that there was to be a diesel M. So yet more bits to go wrong/bang which at BM's prices would make it cheaper to buy another car! and yes I have a Beemer on its third variable cam setup due to crap design.

"Ethelred" as long as it's still under warranty. If not get shut quick. People will keep buying cars based on reviews. Best thing to do is wait a a couple of years until they fix the flaws in the design then buy. I wouldn't buy a german car these day's too expensive and the warranties are too short.

I agree with david Baker,this car is a waste of time and money,it would be almost impossible to use more than a fraction of the power on our roads,i would rather have a 1 litre petrol car where i can use all the available power a lot of the time.
