BMW going for gold in Olympics competition

BMW going for gold in Olympics competition

Gold cars may have gone out of fashion when the ‘80s ended, but with the London 2012 Olympic Games just around the corner, the winning colour is, thanks to BMW, back in fashion.

What’s more, if you spot one of these ‘Golden BMWs’ as they tour the UK during the Olympic torch relay, you could be in with a chance of bagging some tickets to a London 2012 event.

Rather than hiding its torch under a bushel, BMW is basking in the reflected glory of the Olympic flame and enjoying some PR-limelight.

So, it’s dusted off the gold paint (well, probably a vinyl wrap) and plastered a small fleet of 1,3 and 5 Series’ in the stuff. And these brightly decorated Beemers will be visiting BMW dealers up and down the country until 25 July, trying to catch the public’s attention.

The idea is that eagle-eyed spotters snap one of the eye-catching fleet and either post a pic on Twitter using the hash tag #goldenBMW, upload them to the BMW UK Facebook page, or email them to gold@bmw.co.uk, to be in with a chance of winning some London 2012 tickets.

There’s one pair of tickets to give away every day until 25 July – and one lucky winner will be handed the keys to four new BMW models over the course of a year to use as they please.

To keep up with the location of the Golden BMWs, follow their movements on Twitter via @goldenbmw or visit the special Golden BMW website.
