LEGO creates VW Camper model

LEGO creates VW Camper model

LEGO has released a Volkswagen Camper model kit that replicates the famous 1961 Volkswagen Kombi T1 – even down to its iconic V-shaped three way curved colour split front end.

The LEGO Camper Van is a 1,300-piece kit that is brilliantly detailed: LEGO has recreated the charismatic flat-four boxer engine, plaid curtains and the big round speedometer.

There is a front bench seat, angled dashboard and gearstick, while the rear has a folding bench seat and folding dinette table.

There is a plant in the rear, while LEGO has fitted a closet with mirror and hung a painting in the rear too.

All doors and windows are fully functioning, while both the split-screen windscreen plus driver and passenger safari windows are present. The roof has pop-up functionality as well: a textile curtain surround emerges when it is up.

Brilliantly, the details even extend to the interior wardrobe – in which is hung a T shirt with ‘Make LEGO Models, Not War’ emblazoned on the front…

The LEGO Camper kit costs £79.99 and is available either through the LEGO website or at one of LEGO’s five UK brand stores, in London’s Westfield and Bluewater, Cardiff, Milton Keynes and Brighton.
