A NEW world record in the auction world was recently achieved, with a historic 1950 Aston Martin DB2 Team Car achieving a wallet-busting £550,000.
The car, boasting Le Mans and Mille Miglia connections, was part of an RM Auctions and Sotheby’s event.
It wasn’t the only high achiever, though. Two rare Mercedes CLK GTRs, a coupe and roadster pairing, were also offered for sale. The only right-hand drive versions of these race-car-for-the-road examples, they sold for an impressive £522,500 and £616,000 respectively.
