London parking world’s most expensive

As if motoring couldn't get any more expensive, a report this week has revealed that parking costs are on the increase, too - with London topping the poll as the world's most expensive city.

Park in the financial district of London and the average cost of a space for a day is £34, or £582 a month according to a report by estate agents Colliers International.

This compares to Sydney, Australia, the second most expensive city to park in, with a monthly charge of £387, then Hong Kong at £371 and Perth, Australia, at £305.

New York is actually half the price of London, with the Midtown area costing £292 a month.

Ross Moore, from Colliers International, said: "We continue to observe a direct correlation between the rising cost of monthly parking and the ongoing strength of the office real estate market."

As for the world's cheapest place to park, Jakarta in Indonesia costs a mere £13 a month - nearly two-thirds cheaper than a day's parking in London.
