Revealed: Range Rover Sport Coupé

With nothing new to show off at the recent Frankfurt Motor Show and perhaps hoping to divert thoughts away from its imminent sale, Land Rover decided to tease the public with a blurry shot of a forthcoming coupé model. The Range Rover may have begun life with just two-doors but the model likely to be revealed at next year's Detroit Motor Show will be far from the original's pared down approach. The car will probably take the form of a watered-down production version of the Range Stormer and will certainly lose the concept's wild scissor doors but should otherwise be suitably King's Road bling.

If you can't wait a couple of years for the official model, there is however an alternative in the form of the Range Rover Sport Coupé from LSE Design. Clearly removing a couple of doors is much more than your typical spoilers and wheels customising job and LSE hasn't skimped, replacing the standard Range Rover Sport's body with an entirely new design made of carbon fibre. Taking inspiration from the Range Stormer, LSE's design also features a panoramic glass roof. The weight saving is definitely welcome as the Sport is based on the hugely heavy Discovery. We must admit that LSE's two-door treatment is a success, making car look much more lithe and compact.

Internally the bling stakes are upped by individual diamonds set into the speedometer to mark each 10mph increment while the outside features Porsche 911 Turbo style LED running lights. An uprated engine promising in excess of 500bhp ensures that the car will be able to continue the Range Rover Sport's tradition of glueing itself to your rear bumper on the motorway. LSE Design promises that the Coupé will be covered by a full three year warranty and that servicing and repairs can be carried out at any Land Rover main dealer. There are apparently 1,000 colour options available but only 100 cars will be built, each costing £100,000. Be prepared to fight with some Premiership footballers for a place in the queue.
