Top 50: great '80s cars

Shoulder pads, Stock, Aitken & Waterman, spandex, poodle perms, chrome furniture, bright red braces. And they say the '70s was the decade that taste forgot.

Let's be honest, the '80s weren't all that restrained and decorous were they? The decade which began with the question: "Who shot JR?" and ended with the fall of the Berlin Wall was a tumultuous one that shaped our world today.

But we asked ourselves a question even more important than the Dallas one (in case you've forgotten it was JR's pregnant sister-in-law and mistress, Kristin Shepard); namely: were there any decent cars? Well when we had a trawl back through the archives, surprisingly there were. OK, a lot of the styling was done with set-squares, build quality was of take-away carton standard and racing stripes have never actually suited any car, ever, but some nice machinery emerged. Keep an eye out for good examples of certain cars like the Delta Integrale, E30 M3 and Ford Sierra Cosworth, as those and others are bound for classic status in the future.
