Porsche is gearing up for a year of celebration to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 911.

In the next few weeks a 1967 Porsche 911 will embark on a world tour, stopping at motoring events across the globe from the Pebble Beach show to the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Then in March the Porsche Museum in Stuggart will host Retro Classics where revered 911 models like the original Turbo and the first cabriolet will be on display before a huge exhibition from 4 June to 29 September, charting the history and development of the Porsche 911.

In addition, an anniversary book called 911 x 911 will be published before the official anniversary at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year.

The original Porsche 911 was launched at the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show and was original called the 901. Since then more than 820,000 have been built and the iconic 911 now spans seven generations.

In September, MSN Cars will join in the Porsche celebrations with several exciting features. Stay tuned…
