Back in 2007 I tried out every 4x4 on the market. Land Rover even laid on whole days off road
with qualified instructers. I didn't want one till I drove one. Freelander 2 gives you everything you need on or off road nothing else comes close---you don't need all the extra gadgets on the Disco or the Range Rover--why waste money, GS spec freelander 2 has all you need. Awsome in the snow and ice---better than a Defender and it'll go through 20" of Mud. Ordinary cars are just so boring and limited in what they can (or can't) do. Go for the auto box it's low gearing in first is a good substitute for a low range set of gears.

Very nice, I'm hoping to bag one of these as a company car. I don't think I'd buy one out of my own money though

I don't see why a change of dashboard should be considered as an "expensive" update.
When you see the "Megafactories" series on TV, the whole unit goes into any car in one operation - obviously having been pre-assembled.
As long as it's the same size and fit after assembly, the design and layout are of little consequence.

So, bigger, more gadgets for the incompetent off roaders, more of a move away from what the Freelander was, to yet another Chelsea tractor, Land Rpver now have three of the things. No wonder farmers have stopped buying them and prefer the Nissan, Toyota and the old Landies.

why do we need 4 wheel drive all time unless your towing horse boxes or a farmer , and if we get snow for how long these days not worth extra cost and higher fuel consumption, most modern 2 wheel cars etc with anti skid and traction control , and anti lock brakes can cope with the bad weather we have

ive seen 4x4s drive in bad weather but have seen them struggle to control and stop due to size and weight , giving people false sence of security .

toooo much for mee because as far from the other cars they all look the same.... i dont understand why they are making cars like a big block when after all the jobs has gone down the drain meaning they are hard too find and looking at these cars there is no difference between them all that is changed is the inside is that you can watch something and use the Sat Nav and also the CD is like a phone where you can click on it and there is a repeat........

Not for me, it looks like a breeze block and has all the presence of a tank, like most Land Rovers. If everything goes as normal it wont take long to break down and spend most of its time in the garage getting repaired.

It is vast improvement style-wise on the prvious model. But....... why is there no option for a petrol version? I'm lucky enough to have a 3.2 V6 petrol model. The engine is silky smooth and quiet (whether you're inside or out) . Let's face it, all diesels sound either like a Massey Ferguson or a London Transport Routmaster .It has better accelaration than any of the diesels and is not that much more expensive to run due to the high cost of diesel. And it is still a good looking 4x4 off-roader.
However, the satnav is dreadful and sadly by the sound of it L.Rover still hasn't incorporated a speed camera warning device found on even the most basic add-on products. It'll also be interesting to see how efficient the handbrake system is as the the current Feelander usually has to be pulled up to the hilt to be sure it's holding properly.
