1,000 Ferraris for Silverstone record attempt

1,000 Ferraris for Silverstone record attempt

Ferrari North Europe says it now has over 1,000 Ferraris registered for an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Largest Parade of Ferrari Cars in next month.

The attempt will happen on the extended Silverstone Grand Prix circuit during the “Ferrari Racing Days” event, which takes place there on the weekend of the 15-16 September 2012.

Ferrari Racing Days is a Prancing Horse fan-fest, which also includes rounds from the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli and the Ferrari Challenge Cup, the Ferrari Pirelli Open. As well as a rare opportunity to see the FXX and 599XX development cars in action, alongside a selection of classic Ferrari F1 cars from the F1 Clienti department.

The Guinness World Record attempt is set for Saturday 15 September, and is aiming to beat the current record of 490. Or rather crush it, as even with a grand projected total already, the registration process is still open if you’re interested in bringing your Ferrari along.

It’s all for a worthy cause, too, as for every car that takes part Ferrari North Europe will donate £5 to the automotive industry charity BEN.

The Ferrari North Europe region set a previous record of 385 in 2007 – as pictured – and is clearly determined to wrestle back the honours.

Even if you don’t own a Ferrari you can still go along and watch. Tickets for Ferrari Racing Days at Silverstone are on sale now. It’s £15 for a weekend ticket in advance, with under 15s free.

On the day of the event it’s £15 for a day ticket or £20 for the weekened.
