Mohammed Patel
...one of the Javed brothers' foot soldiers had already been convicted of his part in the scam.
In October 2009, 24-year-old Mohammed Patel was found to have caused 93 car crashes in three years. He charged £500 a time to stage accidents which enabled car owners to claim for substantial damages.
Patel's activities were exposed when office workers noticed that the same car and driver were involved in a series of collisions outside their building on the A34 in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport. He was arrested after staging two crashes on the same day and was eventually sentenced to four and a half years in prison.
Patel's favourite trick was to disengage his brake lights so drivers following him would have no warning when he slammed on the anchors.
