The basics of driving safely on snow and ice are quite straightforward. Be as smooth as possible with steering, accelerator and brakes, select as high a gear as possible and, above all, control your speed.

The person driving the blue car on the front picture should be prosecuted, how on earth could anyone drive a vehicle with 80% of the front windscreen covered in snow?

Patrick the write-up said it was an elderly person stopped by the police just afterwards. They were a definite hazard. There was a parent last year, dropping his child off on my kids school street who had only scraped the thick ice from a small part of the front screen and a circle of about 10inches on his drivers side. Some people shouldn't be allowed out in public for everyone's safety, and he was in an audi. My dad used to really annoy everyone in their big posh 4x4s. One year there were 3 stuck on a steep hill and my dad chugged past them all in his little Reliant Rialto. Would have loved to have seen their faces. Like wise when my husband did something similar in our Capri. Sometimes it's just down to experience.

If they can't handle the driving conditions sell the car or leave it at home.

Bad weather driving, whether in snow or heavy rain is just down to common sense, somthing that many drivers seem to lack when faced with adverse conditions.

A STERN TALKING TO THE LICENSE SHOULD HAVE BEEN REMOVED AND PROSECUTED

Most drivers today cannot adapt there driving skills to the conditions,as they don't have any.

There has been many time going to work at 5am i have driven in snow so deep it was dragged along with the tow bar.

No problem.

What sort of total moron even thinks about driving without the windscreen being clear? I think the driver needed more than a talking to, especially after the tradgedies of this Christmas. Some drivers seem to think they drive by divine right, hello, this there anyone home?

Quite evident that we are not all the same... some people like the guy in the little blue car are as thick as two short planks and suitably brain dead to even think of trying to drive like that

English people make me laugh, every year people are surprised when we get to november  time and the weather starts to draw in and tempretures start to plummet , then the rain comes and eventually the snow. People of England, we live in the northern hemisphere therefore the weather is going to be bad in winter, so stop moaning and prepare for it and you may not have so many problems in the future
