There are five Japanese entries in list of the top ten most reliable new cars – and bringing up the rear in tenth place is the Nissan Note. Nissan’s small car achieved a healthy 95.8% reliability rating. It may not be exciting, but it won’t break down. Good show, Nissan.

yes well done skoda, my mrs has a 12 plate skoda yeti urban, before that she had a 10 plate yeti, & before that she had a skoda fabia 55 plate, i have in my garage a 1973 skoda that has only had 2 owners from new, the first owner was my dad, it has only got 8 thousand miles on the clock, i drive a skoda fabia estate, & i also have a skoda rally car that i am doing up at the moment, so all-in-all skoda are brill.

I would like to know out of interest what the percentage variation is between the best and worst. It may turn out that they are mostly good and reliable cars. Also the nature of faults should be taken into consideration. A minor trim rattle or other small issues could result in how a car is rated. Also how a manufacturer deals with problems will have a huge impact on a customers views.

I sold my C1 last year. It was a diesel, utterly reliable, with amazing fuel economy.
Apart from routine servicing, it cost me £1.67 for a replacement cover for the windscreen wiper.
A richly deserved bronze medal position and, had Citroen introduced the new model that was promised instead of just tarting up the old model, I'd have bought the car again.
It's an ideal car for someone who just wants a car that doesn't let you down, ever!

My mid 1920's car,now 86 yrs old, is utterly reliable.Will take me anywhere from the south coast to the north of Scotland as it did in April this year with not a motorway in sight.Easy to maintain relatively cheap insurance,Not a fast car but with todays urban speed limits 40-45 mph is comfortable.After more than 32 years ownership I have not found a replacement but still keep looking!!

Don't get pulled by the plate.
I have an old Lexus LS400 that has been crashed, trashed and chewed by my dogs when pups.
It starts first time every time after weeks of neglect and still feels like a new car when driving it.
I would desperately like a tidyer car now that the dogs have grown up and have stopped assaulting stuff, but I fear that the Lex will go on for ever and I will eventually have to shoot the car to replace it.
So why buy a new 96% reliable moderate car any way when you can have a used 100% reliable, easy to replace luxury car instead ?.
Even the excellent Skoda (Halleluya !) will cost £1000 to repair if involved in a small repair. I can replace my whole Lex for that.
All Lexuses (Lexii ?) should come with a smugness control button.

Always had vw Golf's had a few niggles, but you expect that. Then i bought a Passat, Never again. Every problem seem's to cost around 350 pounds. As for dealers, perhaps we should mark them instead. My last problem, the car had to go on a vw machine to track down the fault.......100 pounds per hour . Robbers

I find the Range Rover Sport at 1st place is total rubbish. Owners when they buy this fabulous car seen to think its invincible and therefore treat it terribly, and then stomp their feet when something goes wrong. Try looking after the car a bit better, and it might last longer? Land Rovers are very reliable.....in the right hands.
