With a switch the size of a thumb nail, how on earth are you supposed to do a handbrake turn? Or a hill start?
And, most importantly, how do you surreptitiously slow down once you've sped past an unmarked police car without your brake lights glowing guiltily?
All handbrakes should be mechanical, long, horizontal and just behind the gearlever.
