In 2009, Automobili Lamborghini launched what it claimed was the world's fastest one-make series - and the only one featuring four-wheel drive. The Blancpain Super Trofeo consisted of Gallardos tuned with a 570bhp engine, reworked chassis and significantly reduced weight. With Pirelli racing tyres and racing brakes, it cornered and stopped with huge precision. The massive fixed rear wing boosted downforce, and the cockpit hosted an ultra-light seat, racing steering wheel and special instruments.
