BMW teams up with Italian styling gurus at Pininfarina for slick new coupe
1936 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic
Auction Price: +£20m
One of just three ever built, this sleek and curvaceous Bugatti smashed the record for the most expensive ever car to go under the hammer when it was auctioned in California in 2010. A record that still stands. The auction house never confirmed the exact price it sold for, nor who bought it, though it's generally thought to have sold for somewhere between £20m and £30m.
