If you've always fancied owning a head-turning classic car, then August is a good month to do something about that. This year seven cars sold for more than a million dollars, and three sold for record prices earning themselves a place in this gallery of the most expensive cars ever sold at auction.
Auction price: £3.2m
Only five Horch 853A Special Roadsters were built, and only three survive. So needless to say, this car earned a lot of attention when it went under the hammer at the Monterey auction.
