1938 Horch 853A Special Roadster
If you've always fancied owning a head-turning classic car, then August is a good month to do something about that. Bidders with deep pockets can look forward to the famous Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, which coincides with the highly anticipated Monterey auction on 18 and 19 August, an event that goes back over 25 years. This year seven cars sold for more than a million dollars, and three sold for record prices earning themselves a place in this gallery of the most expensive cars ever sold at auction.
Auction price: £3.2m
Only five Horch 853A Special Roadsters were built, and only three survive. So needless to say, this car earned a lot of attention when it went under the hammer at the Monterey auction.
