Aston Martin launches gorgeous open-top Volante version of its range-topper
Peugeot 407
Car: Peugeot 407 (2004-2011)
Claim/breakdown rate: 46%
There's another Peugeot in the bottom ten - this time the now-superseded 407 saloon and estate. Sharing space in the unreliable rankings with VW's Touran, the 407 has a breakdown rate of 46%. That's thanks mostly to problems with the braking system. Repairs also count amongst the highest surveyed - the largest bill being £3,700.

Where do these £1,000's repair bills come from? I have never seen such ridiculous figures for suspension and steering, let alone engine problems. Somebody on here wrote that the warranty company was not all that it could be with regard to honouring claims - well, I would suggest that they are up to something dubious with their pricing systems too.
There is absolutely no excuse for electrical problems in this day and age, with the possible exception of relays. These cost varying amounts, I would suggest an average of £20 each, taking about ten minutes to replace.
I have had 10 cars in the last 20 years not that I have had problems with them and all where Vauxhall I just get bored.
The Vauxhall had a bad reputation many years ago as rust buckets and engine problems. Ford produced engines for Vauxhall for quite some time which proved to be reliable.
Now Vectra is the one for me and Vauxhalls are dam good cars.
As for your rust bucket in a dust pan this was the era when old washing machines had been used even Ford for building their cars. Metals have change in the production and has the paint they use. You just got a bad one.

I now have a Daihatsu Charade which has done over 65,000 trouble-free miles. In all that time, its had about ten tyres, a few steering joints, a couple of drive shafts, a couple of sets of brake disks, one (yes, one) new bulb, no new batteries, and no welding. Its fun to drive, surprisingly roomy, and has a CD player and air-con as standard. I think its great, and I don't work for Daihatsu.
The first four of the 'faults' listed above are due to natural wear and tear, so probably don't count anyway. I have never had a repair bill above £200, most of them were much lower. Its a shame that Daihatsu no longer import the Charade.
