Britain's motorists have never had less space to park their car. In Westminster, drivers have an average of just 4.33 metres to park their car in - more than 20% less than a decade ago - and the size available is shrinking all the time.
This means the overall length of a car has never been more important. You can have the best car in the world but, if you can't park it, then it's a bit of a liability.
Help is at hand. We've compiled a list of the easiest cars to park in each sector. We've taken overall length into account, and also factored in whether parking sensors are included or available too, for that extra helping hand.

MSN get it wrong again - in the family hatch category, there are many cars which are easier to park than the Mini Countryman. The Daihatsu Charade is shorter and narrower than the Mini; it has amazing steering lock, power steering, and good visibility all round including electric mirrors that can easily be tilted so that the driver can see exactly where both the back wheels are. There is plenty of room for four adults, who have a door each to get in and out of the car with.
Other vehicles in this category must include the Nissan Micra, the Toyota Aygo, the Peugeot 106, and a Kia, a Chevrolet, and a Mercedes whose model names I forget, to name but a few.
Parking sensors should not be relied upon as I doubt whether they can detect pedal cycles, motor cycles, or pedestrians, especially small children. And as IN FOCUS below suggests, you shouldn't need them anyway.

As a woman with 40 years driving experience and who has no problem parking - anywhere - I have to say that we ladies have our genes to contend with. Unfortunately it's all the fault of our caveman ancestors. Women have the ability to multitask because they had to. They had to pick the berries, keep the fires going, look after the kids, cook the food, scrape the skins, Hoover the caves etc etc etc. Men, however, went hunting and needed to be aware of what was going on around them Consequently they developed better spatial awareness - because they had to. That's why "some" [and I stress 'some'] men can park better than "some" women. Sadly though, some men are still delusional and have not moved far from their cave, believing that to be able to drive you need to be in possession of dangly bits - when actually all you need is a brain!

I quite agree Mark. My dad taught me to drive and he had been a driving instructor in the army. I wasn't just allowed to get behind the wheel and set off. I had to know how to change a tyre, what to look for under the bonnet, how to stop by using the gears should my brakes fail going downhill, and also, although not much use in today's cars, how to change gear by double declutching should my synchromesh fail. Then, before I took my test, I had a couple of lessons with a Police driving instructor who also taught me several useful techniques which are not strictly recommended.
Parallel parking was all part of the process but there are cars today that will even do that for you! Whilst gadgets & gizmos to assist in cars are all very well, what do you do if they pack in and you haven't learnt to drive without them. Whilst driving you are in charge of a lethal weapon - you should be able to do it without all the fancy bits.

All this technology is taking all the skills you need to become a good driver - lets put it is way - you pass your driving test in a car that has all the technology - abs - power steering - parking sensors. Now you get into your car which is a lot older than the car you passed your test in - with no technology - you haven't got the required skills to drive that car and more importantly - are you safe to drive that car ?

Made famous by The Prisoner, where Patrick McGoohan famously dodged and cheated all parking measures thrown at him.
What a load of rubbish. There is nothing (apart from an opening sequence drive around London) in the Prisoner to do with cars and absolutely no evidence of dodging or cheating parking measures.
Also - it was a Lotus 7 not a caterham Cars copy of the Super 7.

He was an IDIOT who came up with this topic "Easiest Cars to Park" if a Lexus LS 600H (picture 8/16) can be there then a BMW 7 series or Mercedes S 500 or Jaguars are for sure waaaaaay easier cars to park because of their enhanced parking sensor system!!!
I wonder who was this Idiot who came up with such a crap nonsense....
And to All the Men out there!!! Is it really hard to park a car????? LOL!!!

the simple reason SOME men - definitely not all! - are good at parking is because they ave the experienc eof sticking things in tight places.
It is interesting to observe hetorsexual males are better able to estimate a gap and reverse nicely in while homosexual men just barge their way into any available hole.

What a load of fuss about parking a little car, i worked in the garages of one of our biggest newspaper groups, space was in short supply, no good saying there`s not enough room, if you couldn`t park a car properly you looked for another job,no good whining.. For years i ran Volvo`s,for their size, easy to park.
(PS, what`s a sensor?)

Nobody has a legal right to park on the highway. the entire width of the road is for moving traffic only. You are allowed to park at the discretion of the police. Which just shows how deeply flawed the concept of "motoring for the masses" is. On many side roads there is no room for two way traffic, and emergency services would have great difficulty attending an emergency.
There are too many cars. We have the shameful spectacle of millions of ablebodied people behaving like they are disabled. After all a car is basically just a wheelchair with an engine. I know some people need a car, but most don`t.
